PTCL DSL 2Mbps Connection is Back, Rs.1499/month only

PTCL has finally decided to bring back the 2Mbps connection of DSL Internet. Currently PTCL was offering 1Mbps, 4Mbps, 6Mbps, 8Mbps and 10Mbps. From 1Mbps there was a direct jump to 4Mbps. Now the 2Mbps is back and with some promo offer for 1Mbps customers.

The area where I live in Lahore, I have seen PTCL guys digging up the side of the road and laying down new Optic Fiber. I think, soon the minimum Internet speed for home users will jump to 4Mbps in Pakistan. PTCL has offered all the 1Mbps customers to upgrade their package to 2Mbps and get 3-months of 2Mbps for the price of 1Mbps. Following are the rates of PTCL DSL Internet connection now:

• 1Mb     @Rs 1199
• 2Mb     @Rs 1499
• 4Mb     @Rs 1999
• 6Mb     @Rs 4999
• 8Mb     @Rs 6999
• 10Mb    @Rs 9999

I think the other DSL providers can’t offer this much high speed Internet connection because of the lack of optic fibre network, so PTCL has the monopoly. 1Mbps connection by PTCL is only offered so that people who use other DSL connections from other companies should have choice. Secondly, I hope PTCL is soon going to allow the students to get the 30% discount on the 2Mbps connection too. Currently PTCL student package only is for 1Mbps connection. I hope to see 4Mbps minimum DSL connection in every house of Pakistan in 2011.
